RUSTLER SPOTLIGHT: ANALAURA MONTIEL

RUSTLER SPOTLIGHT: ANALAURA MONTIEL

portrait of student of the week Analaura Montiel

Analaura Robles Montiel is a sophomore from Jackson, Wyoming. She chose CWC because it was inexpensive, close to home and she received scholarships. Montiel is studying business administration and plans to graduate in 2017.

“I’ve always wanted to own my own business,” Montiel said. “Now that I’ve been in the classes I would like to have a non-profit that either helps third world countries or students.”

Montiel is a mentor and a tutor at CWC. She is also involved in Gear Up.

I really like the small environment here at CWC. I think the best part of CWC is the Student Support Service center, it really helps students out and has a lot to offer. ”

After graduation Montiel plans to attend the University of Wyoming to earn a bachelor’s degree. In her free time she enjoys hiking in the summer, spending time with family and friends, watching Netflixs and volunteering at the animal shelter in Jackson.

Montiel was nominated by Lisa Appelhans, student support services/tutor coordinator.

“Ana is interested in learning about many subjects, theories and practices.” Appelhans said. “She does not just study the material for assignments and tests. She seeks out opportunities to learn more about people’s experiences in different communities and workplace situations. Ana tutors accounting and math for Student Support Services and is a Gear-Up mentor. In both positions she takes time to get to know the students she works with, gives them ideas about how to be successful in college, given their own preferences. She works hard as a student and an employee to meet her goals.”
