SECOND SESSION OF START-UP INSTITUTE COMING THIS SPRING

SECOND SESSION OF START-UP INSTITUTE COMING THIS SPRING

An intensive entrepreneurship program is coming to Jackson this spring to help jump start aspiring entrepreneurs and to encourage Wyoming’s economic growth and diversification.

After the successful launch of the “Start Up Institute” last fall, Silicon Couloir and Central Wyoming College are partnering again to offer the program that is designed to provide participants with the tools and skills that companies utilize to launch successful business ideas.

The institute is a hands-on, experiential and practical course focused on helping individuals work on and launch their business ideas, said Silicon Couloir co-founder and Start Up Institute Program Director Liza Millet.

“This course gives students a mini MBA in only 10 weeks,” she explained. “And unlike a traditional MBA program, the entire course is focused on their business idea and bringing it to fruition.”

From April 8 through June 12, 2014, participants dedicate three full days per week to class time in addition to working through their ideas. Millet said the program ends with participants presenting their business ideas to a panel of experienced advisors. Once the program has concluded, the participants are provided with follow up consulting time with experts in different areas.

The courses are taught by Sandy Schultz Hessler, who has been on the faculty at Harvard, Tufts University and Miami University in Ohio.

“It is incredible to witness the improved strength of the business idea and the entrepreneur when they give themselves permission and commit to this business building process,” said Hessler. “It’s really exciting to watch and I believe very fun to participate in.”

The deadline for the first round of applications is February 1 and enrollment is limited. Financial assistance may be available to those who qualify. College credit from CWC is also available.
