Popular Ten Sleep musician Jalan Crossland is the guest of the first Central Wyoming College summer concert series Hot Notes Cool Nights Monday, June 30 at Riverton City Park.

The concerts, scheduled every Monday through August 4 at 7 p.m., alternate between the city park in Riverton and the Lander Outdoor Amphitheater. All the concerts are free and open to everyone. There will be food and drinks available for purchase at each concert.

Widely acclaimed by his musical peers as one of the country’s premier acoustic guitarists, Crossland is also a banjo player and vocalist. He performs after the summer concert band, under the direction of CWC instrumental instructor Jason Ogg, plays music from the “American Songbook.”

On July 7, the concert in Lander moves to the new outdoor amphitheater, which is located between Lander Valley High School and the Museum of the American West. The theme of the first concert in Lander is “Movie Madness,” and the guest artist is the Jeff Troxel Trio.

The Fremont County Symphony Orchestra is the guest of the July 14 concert in Riverton, and “Night at the Opera” is the theme for the evening.

The country-rock Teka Brock Band are  the headliner of the July 21 concert in Lander and the concert band is performing tunes from “south of the border. Ben Evans is the guest at the July 28concert in Riverton, which features music from “behind the Iron Curtain.”

Blues and jazz are played at the final 2014 Hot Notes concert in Lander and the Globe Saxophone Quartet is the special guest.

In the event of rain, the Riverton concerts will be moved to the Robert A. Peck Arts Center Gallery. In Lander, the alternate location is the LVHS auditorium. Food and drink is available for purchase from vendors at the concert sites.
