MUSIC DEPARTMENT HOSTS SPRING SHOWCASE CONCERT

Central Wyoming College vocal and instrumental groups present a Spring Showcase Concert Thursday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert A. Peck Arts Center Theatre.

The CWC Handbell Choir, under the direction of Sharon Dalton, performs four pieces, including “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” by Anna Laura Page, “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” a Harry Warren piece arranged by Valerie Stephenson, John Phillip Sousa’s “The Washington Post,” arranged by Douglas Anderson, and Celtic Praise, a Rolf Lovland song arranged by Kevin McChesney.

First year instrumental director Jason Ogg’s College Band is also performing literature by Sousa in his “Library of Congress March,” as well as “Irish Tune from County Derry” by Percy Aldridge Grainger. Other selections include “Songs of a Sailor and Sea” by Robert W. Smith, and “Bandology” by Eric Osterling.

The Collegiate Chorale, under the direction of Robert Hussa, also performs at the concert. The choir sings “Easter Anthem” by William Billings and “April Is In My Mistress’ Face” by Thomas Morley. Both of these numbers will be sung a cappella. Also on the program are the traditional Irish song “Danny Boy,” “If Music Be the Food of Love” and a song arranged by Jester Hairston, “Hold My Mule While I Dance Josey.”
