FRACKING SUBJECT OF HOT TOPICS DISCUSSION
Fracking, the hydraulic fracturing of land to release trapped gas, is the subject of the first in a series of Central Wyoming College “Hot Topic” discussions on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 11:30 a.m. in Robert A. Peck Arts Center Theatre.
Sponsored by the CWC Diversity Committee, a group of invited guests discuss the pros and cons of fracking during the free forum.
A complimentary lunch is served following the discussion at 12:30 p.m. in the Arts Center Gallery.
Participating in the discussion are Ryan Ortiz, the director of the Wind River Environmental Quality Agency; Dustin Bleizeffer, editor-in-chief and energy reporter for WyoFile.com, a representative of the Casper geology consulting firm Goolsby and Finley and Associates, and Riverton attorney John Vincent who has been involved in cases of oil and gas drilling.
Moderating the panel is journalist Geoff O’Gara. There will be time for questions following the discussion. The public is encouraged to attend.
Each month, the college sponsors a hot topic discussion. Future fall events include discussions on the decriminalization of marijuana and immigration.
