CHINESE-U.S. RELATIONS DISCUSSED BY PANEL

A panel featuring experts from Shanghai University and the University of Wyoming discuss the relationship between the U.S. and China at Central Wyoming College Friday, October 21.

The 4 p.m. event in the Little Theatre brings together Dr. Jhenjiang Ning, of Shanghai University’s Department of History and Dr. Qiao Jin, of the Institute of Social Science Survey of Shanghai with Dr. Jean Garrison and Dr. Thomas Seitz of UW’s International Studies Program.

China’s future economic and political prospects are a few of the subjects to be discussed at the International Studies Scholars Lecture Series at CWC.

The panel discussion, which is open to the public, is followed by an International Studies Model UN Conference for community college and high school instructors at CWC on Saturday, October 22. The professional development workshop is part of the larger International Studies Conference that includes the panel discussion.

By the numbers, China does have the fastest growing economy in the world and remains dynamic despite the lingering global economic crisis. The experts from China and UW also intend to discuss Chinese modernity, culture change and social trends, as well as China’s world view and its relationship with its neighbors.
