BRETT MCDONALD HONORED BY DISTANCE ED CONSORTIUM
An online instructor for Central Wyoming College was honored as a Master Distance Educator during the 11th annual Wyoming Distance Education (WyDEC) held recently at CWC.
Dr. Brett McDonald, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service, is an adjunct instructor at the college, teaching “Intro to Meteorology” online.
“He combines his technical expertise with a heartfelt passion for student learning,” CWC Dean of Arts and Sciences Mark Nordeen said of McDonald.
McDonald shares the love of weather, tweaks intellectual curiosity for his students and demonstrates for students “that science is fun,” Nordeen said. Weather forecasting is technology intensive and McDonald uses these technologies to provide current and relevant data to augment his instruction, and to enhance the laboratory exercises.
Also honored by WyDEC were Bernardino Madsen, Casper College; Coventry Dougherty-Woodin, Eastern Wyoming College; Gina Turner, Laramie County Community College; Dr. Micah Humphreys, Northwest College; Dan Alberghetti, Northern Wyoming Community College District; Dr. Debra Beck, University of Wyoming and Betty DeRentis, Western Wyoming Community College.
The Wyoming Distance Education Consortium (WyDEC) is made up of representatives from all seven Wyoming community colleges and UW.
