Graduating Eastern Shoshone tribal students from various high schools, community colleges and universities were honored Friday, June 24, at the 62nd annual Eastern Shoshone Indian Days Powwow in Fort Washakie.

Presidents Brad Tyndall of Central Wyoming College and Edward Seidel of the University of Wyoming were given special recognition with a gift of a blanket for their support and commitment to higher education on the Wind River Indian Reservation.

A total of 54 graduates were honored during the ceremony, including Anneshia Hill,  Central Wyoming College’s 2021-2022 Outstanding Native American Scholar and one of Central Wyoming College’s first  Bachelor of Applied Science graduates.

School leaders, the Eastern Shoshone Business Council, family and community members all gathered to celebrate the graduates, who were presented with certificates and honored with beautiful blankets provided by the Eastern Shoshone Higher Education program. The blankets for the University of Wyoming dignitaries were provided by the Chief Washakie Foundation.

After the congratulations and presentation of certificates and blankets, an honor dance was conducted in recognition of all the students who graduated as well as all the Central Wyoming College and University of Wyoming representatives.
