ROCKY MOUNTAIN JUSTICE ACADEMY

At Central Wyoming College, the Rocky Mountain Justice Academy (RMJA) is dedicated to empowering Wyoming’s communities through comprehensive education and training in criminal justice. Our mission — Advancing Safety, Skills, and Service — drives us to serve not only Wyoming law enforcement agencies but also students pursuing careers in our Criminal Justice Program as well as citizens seeking knowledge, training and proficiency in concealed carry and use-of-force decision-making. 

By leveraging innovative strategies and a team of experienced professionals, RMJA delivers tailored training and educational opportunities designed to strengthen law enforcement, prepare future criminal justice leaders, and promote informed, responsible citizenship across Wyoming’s diverse communities.

Virtual Firearms Training Systems (FATS)

  • Marksmanship training
    • Basic fundamentals of individual marksmanship and sustainment training
    • Less lethal and non-lethal options including verbal commands, chemical spray and TASER®
  • Judgment training
    • Force escalation/de-escalation, use of force and shoot/no shoot decision making

Training Opportunities

The training opportunities provided by the RMJA are of the type and quality found in large urban areas.  The interconnectivity and interagency cooperation facilitated by the center provide opportunities for collaboration and cooperation amongst local agencies. The RMJA provides training opportunities for law enforcement professionals including but not limited to:

    • Citizen Concealed Carry Use of Force
    • County Sheriff Departments
    • Municipal Police Departments
    • County Jails
    • Rural Jails and Prisons
    • Search and Rescue Teams
    • Small Fire Departments
