Rustler Spotlight-Tamara Ashburn

Tamara Ashburn is a fifth generation Wyoming woman living in Jackson and attending college at the CWC Jackson Outreach. After her mother passed away last year she decided that a healthy way to deal with the loss was to go back to school and pursue a degree in art.

“I’ve come from generations of artists,” Ashburn said. “I always loved painting and drawing; I feel like I’m dancing when I paint.”

Ashburn plans to graduate in 2019 and continue her studies by going to grad school. Her goals include going to a fine arts college in Washington D.C. where she can gain access to art programs with some of the finest art museums and galleries in the country.

Ashburn was nominated by Elizabeth Onufer who teaches English at CWC Jackson.

“Tamara has made great progress this semester in her writing,” Onufer said. “Her work ethic, persistence, positive attitude, willingness to participate and attention to details set her apart from the other students.”
