Alumni Spotlight - Kaylee DeWitt
Originally from Shoshoni, Wyoming, Kaylee DeWitt has built a career rooted in creativity, confidence, and community. A 2019 graduate of Central Wyoming College, Kaylee earned her Associate of Applied Science in Cosmetology while also working part-time at Walmart to support her education.
Even before college, Kaylee had completed dual credit classes in high school and was drawn to CWC by its welcoming campus, excellent facilities, and the recommendations of friends and family who had positive experiences there.
During her time in the cosmetology program, Kaylee gained a deep and practical understanding of haircutting, coloring, esthetics, anatomy, disinfection, chemical treatments, nail care, and
even business management, skills that would become instrumental in her professional journey.
After passing the state boards and earning her cosmetology license, Kaylee moved to Casper to begin her career at Rootz Salon. The salon offered a structured level-based apprenticeship program that helped stylists build their skills and client base. After four years advancing through the system and two years as an independent contractor renting her own booth, Kaylee achieved a lifelong dream: she became the owner of her own salon, Brick & Beauty, in 2025.
“As a cosmetologist, my passion is helping people look and feel their absolute best,” she shared. “Watching a client’s confidence grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. It’s what makes all the hard work so meaningful.”
Outside of her thriving business, Kaylee is full of personality and creative energy. She enjoys traveling, reading, crafting, painting, spending time with friends and her dogs, and collecting tattoos. She’s also the proud owner of a 1972 El Camino and has a special love for plants and all things spooky.
When reflecting on her time at CWC, Kaylee says what stood out most was the sense of community and the genuine investment of faculty in student success.
“CWC gave me the strong foundation I needed to build a career I love,” she said. “I’ll always be grateful for the support I received and the skills I gained.”
Today, Kaylee DeWitt is not only a successful business owner, but also a shining example of how CWC prepares its students to grow, lead, and thrive in their chosen fields.
