CWC Theatre prepares its biggest musical yet – Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
The stage is set (or at least nearly set) for one of the most ambitious productions in Central Wyoming College history. Under the direction of Joey West, CWC’s Director of Theatre, the cast and crew are hard at work preparing for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers—a high-energy musical packed with big chorus numbers, bold choreography, and heartwarming storytelling.
Now, three weeks into rehearsals, the production is already making waves. With over 42 cast members, a 20-person production crew, and a live band featuring 14 instrumentalists, this show represents the largest musical CWC has produced since West joined the college in 2017. At times, more than 55 performers will take the stage together, bringing a truly grand theatrical experience to Fremont County.
Rehearsals have been creatively scattered across campus due to the bustling spring season at the Robert A. Peck Arts Center. From the Choir Room and Dance Studio to the Intertribal Center and Student Center Little Theatre, the cast has embraced every space and challenge with enthusiasm. “It’s been a wonderful experience teaching our students and community members that rehearsals can be run anywhere,” West said. “All we need is imagination and focus.”
With music already learned and most of the dance numbers staged, the team is now moving into the final stages of blocking and polishing. Joey West credits the success of this large-scale production to the dedicated team behind the scenes, including Alec Henderson, Technical Director; Kara Hancock, in costumes; Kimber Tower, Music Director; Jonathan Rummel, Choreographer; Matt Hartman, Box Office Manager; Nyielle Lawson, Colton Lawson, the entire Vargas Family, and Sam Tower.
