John P. Ellbogen Scholarship

​Who is this scholarship for?

Central Wyoming College students who:

  • Are 24 years of age or older.
  • Are enrolled in one of the qualifying degree or certificate programs.
  • Have demonstrated Wyoming residency for not less than three years immediately preceding the application.
  • Have filled out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the academic year for which they are applying for a scholarship and have an unmet financial need.

Preference will be given to those that have not earned an associate degree or higher.

What is the award amount?

Scholarship awards are limited to no more than $1,500 per student per semester up to the total cost of attendance for full-time attendance, and for no more than a total of $3,000 per academic year. Full-time attendance is encouraged, but not required. The award amount will be prorated for less than full-time attendance.

The Ellbogen Opportunity Scholarship funds will only be provided if the student has unmet needs and only after all public or private non-loan financial aid has been applied first.

How many times can I receive this scholarship?

Scholarships may be awarded for up to a maximum of two academic years, which may include a single summer semester for students who maintain continuous enrollment, meet satisfactory academic progress, and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5.
