RUSTLER SPOTLIGHT: AMBER COCHRAN

RUSTLER SPOTLIGHT: AMBER COCHRAN

portrait of CWC student Amber Cochran

Amber Cochran is a sophomore and plans to graduate in December with a degree in secondary education and English.

Cochran started her education in Pennsylvania in business but switched to education when started to volunteer at her daughter’s school.

“I fell in love with it,” Cochran said about working with children at her daughter’s school. “I enjoy reading which is why I chose English as a second program.”

Cochran, who has family here, decided to go back to school when she was laid off from a job at a pharmaceutical company. Coming from a busy area, Cochran said she really enjoys how laid back it is here and really likes her instructors.

After she finishes her degree here at CWC she plans to go to Penn State to work on a bachelor’s degree. Cochran is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and works in the CWC library. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family.

Cochran was nominated by Tina Jayroe, resource management librarian at CWC.

Amber does high-quality, intellectual work using several of our complex library systems. She is a well-rounded individual and is able to do the simplest tasks when needed such as covering the Help Desk and training other students. Yet she truly shines when given harder and longer tasks such as writing descriptions of our hundreds of databases for our web page, or inventorying thousands of topographical maps. She can take any assignment and run with it; she is reliable and responsible. We are very fortunate to have her as a student worker in the library. ”
