Rodeo wraps up the season with eight in the leader board for the region
Central Wyoming College’s rodeo team wrapped up the fall season with eight team members in the top ten for the region standing. The team finished the season in Cheyenne at the Laramie County Community College rodeo this last weekend with eight cowboys and cowgirls placing in the top ten for the rodeo.
Senior Coltin Miller shared first place with Travis Nelson of Gillette College in the saddle bronc riding. Miller scored a 75 in the long go-round and had a 78 point ride in the short go-round. Teammates and brothers Tanner and Shawn Butner also placed in the top ten for the saddle bronc. Freshman Tanner Butner had a 68 point ride in the long go-round placing him in sixth overall and junior Shawn Butner had a 62 point ride, placing seventh; both received a no score in the final round.
“Miller had another great weekend which isn’t surprising,” said Drew Schrock, rodeo coach. “He drew two hard broncs, handled it well and performed to the best of his ability.”
In the region standings for saddle bronc Miller is taking the lead for CWC in third place with 460 points, Tanner Butner is in fourth with 380 points and Shawn Butner is in eighth with 135 points.

Teigen Finnerty, freshman had a time of 5.7 seconds in the long go-round and 8.0 seconds in the short go-round placing him in eighth overall.
“Dalton made two good runs on hard steers,” Schrock said. “The main thing we concentrate on is to make the best run or ride on the stock that is provided.”
In the region senior Coltin Hill is in third place with 290 points, Burgener is in seventh place 165 points, freshman Brady Thurston is in tenth place with 140 points, sophomore Danny Huxtable is in 11th place with 130 points and Finnerty is in 24th place with 20 points.

Freshmen Sierra Stoll and Casey Hale placed seventh with a time of 6.1 seconds in the short go-round and a no time in the final round. Finnerty also placed second for the all-around with 70 points.
“Having Teigen make reserve is not only great for him but for the team as well,” Schrock said. “I’m looking forward to what he will bring in the spring and how well he will do in the future for us.”
For the region standings for team roping headers, Finnerty is in 14th place 125 points and Stoll is in 27th with 40 points. And for the heelers, Hale is in 19th place with 40 points.

“Going through the fall season I’m proud of the way the team has done in the arena and in the classroom. This is the first year as a coach that I’ve had this many kids have the talent and the possibility to go to finals individually,” Schrock said. “We have things to work on and I’m looking forward to the break and working on the fundamentals with them.”
