Brooklenn Thompson, a senior at Riverton High School signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at Central Wyoming College next season.
“I’m excited to play,” Thompson said. “The challenge will be the speed of the game and getting back in shape. I will be learning more offense and defense of the game.”
Thompson played high school volleyball for Riverton High, AAU volleyball and was also on Riverton High School’s dance team and marching band.
“It’s exciting and there is an expectation to keep improving,” Thompson said. “I’ll continue to work hard and push myself.”
In her high school career Thompson played outside, she will be playing defensive specialist for the lady Rustlers.
“I want to try and be a leader on the court,” Thompson said. “It will be nice to be able to play on home court and close with family. I look forward to being on the court with great players.”
Thompson plans to study something in the medical field but wants to work on completing generals first.
“She has been great at passing and showed great strength this season,” said Tiffany Stauffenberg head volleyball coach. “It’s always nice to get a Fremont player and receive the support from the community.”
“She knows the game and the libero position is familiar to her,” Stauffenberg said. “Her experience playing at a higher level will benefit the team. She works hard, is coachable, is fundamentally sound and is the defense that I need.”
Coach Stauffenberg has signed two other players for the 2016 season; Carson Hilim from Rawlins who will be playing libero and All-State setter Hattie Hix from Green River.
