RUSTLER SPOTLIGHT: BRIAN MWANGI
Brian Mwangi is a sophomore from Kenya, pursuing a degree in nursing. Mwangi said there were several things that attracted him to CWC and its nursing program.
“The flexibility it provides to undertake a degree and the smooth transition to a bachelor’s degree,” Mwangi said. “Secondly, the education environment is state-of-the-art, learner centered and focused on students. The cost of education is affordable.”
Mwangi not only enjoys his degree program but also attested to CWC’s friendly social interaction and friendships with staff and students. Mwangi said he has a passion for healthcare.
Nursing is versatile, it has so many career paths. ”

After Mwangi graduates from CWC in May, he plans to attend the University of Wyoming to pursue a Bachelor of Science in nursing with the hopes to be a nurse anesthetist.
Mwangi is a member of the Riverton Rotary Club and works for CWC’s physical plant. He was nominated by Lori Ridgway, director of marketing.
“Brian is an inspiration to students and employees at CWC,” Ridgway said. “He came to CWC from Kenya to study for his nursing degree, leaving his wife, mother, unborn daughter and family behind, at the beginning of the COVID outbreak. He has achieved commendable grades throughout his academic career, worked for the grounds/physical plant, and been a member of the local Rotary Club of Riverton, presenting and volunteering for service projects when he is able. He is encouraging and positive to his colleagues, with an incredible work ethic and desire to assist others.”
