The Central Wyoming College Board of Trustees met on Wednesday evening in a regular session to discuss current issues. The topics up for discussion included, but are not limited to…

The Board approved the expenditure of $130,640 to order a Mobile Teaching Kitchen Trailer for the college’s hospitality program. The trailer will provide an educational platform where students can learn and work. The trailer will eventually be stationed in Jackson to serve the program there and at Farmers Markets and other activities in both Teton, Fremont and Hot Springs counties.

The Trustees heard a presentation and approved the expenditure of $372,000 for the purchase of three new buses. Two 15 passenger shuttle buses and one large 44 passenger coach will replace the current fleet which are aging out. The buses are being delivered to the college from a Texas company, who won the bid.

Approval was received for a new Law Enforcement enhancement to be offered at CWC under the current Organizational Management and Leadership Bachelor of Applied Science Degree. It was determined that often after being hired, law enforcement officers receive little formal training in leadership before they are promoted to positions of leadership.

CWC will offer 30 credit hours specific to Law Enforcement and be flexible enough to accommodate the rigors of the career. ”

The new program will be coordinated with the college’s current Criminal Justice offerings. Several additional approvals from the Wyoming Community College Commission and the Higher Education Council are needed before the program can be launched, possibly as early as this coming fall.

The annual Fiscal year 2022 budget reallocation and closeout included a transfer of funds that will be available for immediate action was approved.

The board listened to a presentation from Anderson-Mason-Dale Architects about and updated Facilities Master Development plan which is required every five years to provide progress details for grant applications. The plan includes build-outs on student housing, adult housing for non-traditional students, and additions to the campus in the form of a proposed Innovation Development Center plus upgrades to Rustler Gym for additional locker rooms and work at the Alpine Science Center in Lander.

Central Wyoming College continues to demonstrate upward motion in all categories related to educational pursuits and student life at all of its campuses.

The Next regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
