The Central Wyoming College men’s basketball team used a fast start and a gritty defensive performance to top the Northwest College Trappers Friday evening in Rustler Gymnasium by a final score of 68-61.
Devon Colley had arguably his best individual performance of the season, ending the evening with an impressive stat line of 21 points, six rebounds, six assists, and a steal while going 7-11 from the field.
“Devon played what I thought might be his best game of the season,” Coach Nelson said. “He is starting to learn to make whatever play the defense gives him – sometimes that’s attacking to score and sometimes it’s attacking for someone else to score and sometimes it’s just plain moving the ball.”
The Rustlers were balanced in their scoring outside of Colley, as Chris Quayle was the next leading scorer with 13 points. Alihan Demir ended the evening with six points and 14 rebounds, while his partner forward Irshaad Hunte had six points and 10 rebounds. Colter Galante chipped in 8 points off the bench, while Marcus Nolan and Nick Brannon ended the night with five and six points.
The Rustlers will prepare this week to travel for back-to-back road games against Little Big Horn (Friday; 7:30PM tip-off) and Miles (Saturday; 4PM tip-off).
