RUSTLER SPOTLIGHT: CLARISSA WYKSTRA

RUSTLER SPOTLIGHT: CLARISSA WYKSTRA

portrait of CWC student Clarissa Wykstra

Clarissa Wykstra of Syracuse, Utah has dreams of making it to Broadway to be a professional performer. After auditioning and receiving a scholarship to CWC she quickly accepted the opportunity and will complete a theatre and communication degree in May when she will graduate.

I want to go into musical theater just because expressing something you can’t say with words, you can express with music. And with theater and music expressing emotion and language through all of that combined; I think is a really cool concept to do. ”

Wykstra plans to attend a larger university to earn a bachelor’s degree in both theatre and communication.

“After that I plan to pack up and head to New York City, to hopefully work or act professionally,” she said.

Wykstra’s musical talents go beyond singing, she also plays the guitar and piano. She is a resident assistant on campus as well as a student ambassador and a social media ambassador. Wykstra is also the president of the drama club.

Wykstra was nominated by her social media ambassador advisor, Amara Fehring who is also the digital content specialist for marketing.

“Clarissa is bright, compassionate, and devoted,” Fehring said. “I’ve worked with her on stage, as a social media ambassador, and a campus leader. She’s always willing to assist and participate. She is collaborative and daring in her performances. Her vibrant energy and outstanding professionalism have made her an asset to CWC. It’s been a privilege getting to work with her.”
