STRONGER THAN DIABETES; A FAMILY PROJECT

STRONGER THAN DIABETES; A FAMILY PROJECT

Central Wyoming College is hosting a family retreat for children and families living with type I diabetes.

The retreat, scheduled for July 11-13 at the CWC Sinks Canyon Center south of Lander, is open to children aged 7-18 with Type 1 diabetes and their immediate family members.

Funded in part by a donation from the Jim and Audrey Bailey Foundation, the goal is to provide families education and support to better manage the daily rigors of diabetes to live fuller and healthier lives, said organizer Michael Cheek.

A resource team of healthcare professionals is available as well as a full slate of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, rock climbing and rappelling, and team games.
The $100 per family fee includes all meals and equipment. No family will be denied the opportunity to participate due to an inability to pay, Cheek said.
