ART EDUCATOR RECOGNIZED BY ADULT EDUCATION GROUP
Lander art educator Bill Yankee has been recognized by the Wyoming Lifelong Learning Association (WLLA) with the Outstanding Adult Educator Award.
Yankee, a longtime Lander Valley High School art teacher, has also been teaching for Central Wyoming College for the past 24 years, said CWC Lander community service coordinator Mickey Douglas who nominated Yankee for the award.
“He is an outstanding educator and devotes many hours above and beyond helping prepare students for a better future,” Douglas said. “He is a very dedicated instructor trying to always improve the curriculum and his method of instruction.”
The WLLA is a state organization designed to develop, promote and enhance lifelong learning for all of Wyoming and each year it recognizes outstanding adult educators. Douglas has served as a member of the WLLA board for the past 14 years and served two terms as president for the organization.
“He is diligent in helping every student achieve their goals and is very deserving of this award,” Douglas said, noting Yankee goes the extra mile to support non-traditional students accommodating their work schedules and personal lives along with their continuing studies.
