DESCRIPTION:It’s 1886\, William Ellsworth “Dummy” Hoy is the first deaf player to join minor league baseball. A no-nonsense manager\, players with colorful personalities\, and a curious reporter create the milieu “Dummy” must understand and engage with to belong. After being recruited to a team in Oshkosh\, he quickly becomes one of the best hitters on the team; however\, his deafness gently and humorously expose the misunderstandings found with any language barrier. “The Signal Season of Dummy Hoy” is performed in both English and American Sign Language.
