SUMMARY:High School Welding Competition
DESCRIPTION:Central Wyoming College will host its first High School Welding Competition in the CWC Welding Shop. This one-day event is designed to bring together high school welding students of all experience levels for a fun and friendly skills competition. \nStudents will compete in three skill levels: beginner\, intermediate\, and advanced\, with welding challenges designed to match their experience. SUMMARY:Gracie Survival Tactics Level 1 Training
DESCRIPTION:Central Wyoming College will host Gracie Survival Tactics Level 1 training this spring\, offering local and statewide law enforcement officers an opportunity to receive modern defensive tactics instruction focused on de-escalation\, control\, and injury reduction. \nThe five-day training will take place Monday through Friday\, June 8–12\, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in the Riverton High School wrestling room. The cost to attend is $1\,500. Registration is available online here. \nThe program is hosted in collaboration with the Riverton Police Department and the Lander Police Department\, highlighting a shared dedication to improving officer preparedness and community safety. \nInstructor Jeff Greekas is a highly credentialed martial arts and law enforcement training professional\, serving as a GST Master Instructor and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Gracie University. With more than a decade of experience training law enforcement personnel\, he brings deep\, practical expertise to every course he leads. Greekas is also a longtime business owner\, having operated a successful martial arts school for over 14 years\, and is a certified Women Empowered Self-Defense Instructor through Gracie University. His credentials further include certification as a California POST 1070 Arrest and Control Instructor\, along with approval from the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) to deliver the GST course for official credit to Michigan peace officers. \nGracie Survival Tactics is part of the Gracie University system\, developed by the family that introduced Brazilian jiu-jitsu to the United States. The program emphasizes control-based techniques that help officers safely manage physical encounters while minimizing injury to both officers and subjects. \nAs agencies nationwide prioritize de-escalation strategies\, this training provides practical\, effective tools designed to enhance professionalism\, reduce risk\, and build trust in police-civilian interactions.
