SUMMARY:Native Voices: Star Quilt Exhibit Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, May 2\, 2025\nCenter for the Arts\, Center Commons (240 South Glenwood Street\, Jackson)\n5-6:30 p.m.\nFree Admission \n\n\n\n\nCelebrate the opening of the Star Quilt Exhibit\, showcasing stunning works by Wind River artists Miracle Seminole and Cherokee Brown. This special evening offers an opportunity to meet the artists and learn about the cultural significance of star quilts in Native traditions. \nMiracle Seminole\, a young quilt maker and enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe\, carries forward a family tradition passed down through generations. After facing personal challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic\, she found healing and resilience through quilting\, guided by her mother. \nCherokee Brown\, Miracle’s mother\, learned the art of quiltmaking from her grandmother. She has passed down not only the skills but also the deeper meanings behind star quilts—their eight-point design represents the cardinal directions and stages of life\, with prayers and positive energy woven into each piece. \nPresented in partnership with the Center for the Arts\, Wyoming Arts Council\, and Central Wyoming College\, this exhibit honors a timeless Native tradition of storytelling\, resilience\, and artistic expression.
