FREE TAX HELP ON CAMPUS, LANDER CENTER

FREE TAX HELP ON CAMPUS, LANDER CENTER

Former and current Central Wyoming College accounting and income tax students provide free help preparing 2012 taxes to taxpayers that cannot afford professional assistance on the CWC campus Wednesdays from Feb. 20 through April 3.

The students of Accounting Instructor Willie Noseep are providing the help from 6:30-8 p.m. in room 157 of CWC’s Main Hall (formerly the Classroom Wing) on Wednesday evenings Feb. 20, Feb. 27, March 6, 13, 20, and April 3. There will not tax assistance available on Wednesday, March 27 due to Spring Break.

The service is also provided in Lander on Tuesday, Feb. 19 and Tuesday, March 6 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the CWC Lander Center, 427 Main Street.

In cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, CWC is one of the many Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites around the country. VITA volunteers assist low income, elderly, disabled, and non-English speaking taxpayers with their tax returns. The income limit is approximately $51,000 to qualify for the free service.

Taxpayers needing assistance should bring their 2012 tax package, all wage and earning statements (Form W-2), all interest statements (Form 1099), information for all deductions/credits, proof of account for direct deposit or refund (voided check), Social Security cards for dependents and/or spouse, birth date of all dependents and any other relevant information about income and expenses. Also bring a proof of identification.

For more information, contact Noseep at 855-2149.
