Language Exchange Program

The Language Exchange Program is designed to help break down language barriers and build cultural understanding in our Jackson Hole community. The program consists of Spanglish Nights which are taught in a casual bilingual class-like atmosphere, and an opportunity for individuals to be paired up with a language exchange partner.

Spanglish Nights
Spanglish Nights are open to ESL learners and the wider Jackson Hole community interested in improving their English and Spanish skills. Classes may include conversation games, improvisation, role plays for in a bank or restaurant, current event debates, and a variety of other themes. Classes will be guided in English for one hour and in Spanish for the second hour. The experience will be casual language learning and mostly conversational.  Click the poster at the right for dates,  location and time.
Monday evenings: Oct. 7 & 11, Nov. 4 & 18, Dec. 2 & 16

Language Exchange Partners
Interested in improving your foreign language skills? Sign up for a Language Exchange Partner! An ESL student will be paired up with a native English speaker from the Jackson Hole community to practice English outside of class, while teaching the other partner his or her native language. The pairs will arrange their own scheduled meetings – a chat over coffee, making a meal together, going for a hike, or skiing together. The experience is up to the pair.

We ask for a two-month commitment and suggest that partners meet for one-two hours a week. To request a language exchange partner, fill out the application and email it back to the Jackson ESL Office. Also, check this list of website links to help facilitate your meetings with your future partner, as well as some self-study suggestions:
