About Jackson
Nestled in the valley floor, Jackson's Hole is approximately 6,500 feet above sea level. The Snake River meanders through the valley, fed by tributaries along the way. On the western side of the valley, the majestic Teton Mountains rise sharply above the valley floor, and small lakes lie the base of the range. To the east of the valley are the Gros Ventre Mountains. Jackson, as the county seat for Teton County, has a year-round population of about 8,500. The population swells in the summer and winter months, when non-residents return to the valley to enjoy beautiful, mild summer days, or brisk, winter days filled with winter-time activities.
