Helpdesk FAQs

How do I forward my CWC email to another account?

Login to myCentral and open email from launch pad on left of page.

Follow these instructions from Google

Can I access my Moodle account, WebAdvisor or email from off campus?

  1. Yes, you can!  Login by clicking the "myCentral" link on the CWC website, then select "myClasses" at the top of the page.
  2. Your Student Login Information:
    Username = jjd1114
Your initials in lowercase plus your two-digit month and two-digit day of your birth.
Our example above is for user John Jay Doe with a birthdate of 11/14/1983.
Your initial password was mailed to you by Registration and Records. If you forgot your password it can be reset on the home page of the portal by entering your username in the forgot your password section of the page. This is the same password used by myCentral and CWC campus computers.
  3. MyClasses takes you to Moodle.  To become familiar with Moodle, visit this Moodle Document.  Work through this LMS Orientation Sandbox to increase your knowledge of the learning management system.
  4. For assistance, call the IT Help Desk at 307-855-2198, toll free 877-CWC-DESK, or email.

How long will I have access to my WebAdvisor account after I graduate/leave CWC?

Indefinitely. If you don't remember your user name or password, call the Helpdesk at 1-877-CWC-DESK (292-3375). You can also reset your password at myCentral.

I am a CWC student having problems with my personal computer/laptop. Can you help me?

Sorry, but the IT staff cannot help with problems on a student's personal computer. Ask around campus and there are lots of students that are "computer geeks" that are usually glad to help out. If that doesn't work out, you will need to contact a computer service company.

I cannot log in to myClasses (Moodle) but I can access WebAdvisor or E-mail.

If you recently registered, it may be that your Moodle account is not yet set up. Have you changed your name since your Moodle class was set up? Contact the Helpdesk.

I want to use the on-line tutoring available from Smartthinking.com and it is asking for a user name and password.

Smartthinking is now a link found on the myCentral page after logging in. It is found under the QuickLaunch titled myTutor.  No user name or password is required.

I'm in my on-line class in Moodle but I don't know how to maneuver around the class. How do I access the Discussion Board and participate in discussions? How do I submit my assignments? How do I email my instructor?

Visit the Moodle Student FAQ and it should answer your questions.  If you still have questions, it would be best to contact your instructor, as each instructor sets up his or her own class.

I'm locked out of my account. What do I do?

For security reasons, your account will be locked after five unsuccessful tries entering your password. If the IT Helpdesk is open, call or stop by and someone can unlock your account immediately; otherwise, your account will unlock itself in 15 minutes.

Is wireless access available everywhere on campus?

Wireless access is widely available on the CWC Riverton campus.  Wireless connectivity is also available at the CWC Lander Center.  CWC provides "Internet-only" access to those using wireless connectivity.

I am logged into MyClasses (Moodle), but some of my content won't show.

Internet Explorer requires you to say NO to the prompt, "Do you wish to view only secure content?"  If you don't respond No, you will not be able to view all LMS content.

What is the difference in the delivery methods?

WEB: These courses are delivered over the Web (Internet) and require access to a computer with an Internet connection.  Some courses may also require specific software.  Computers and Internet connection are available on the Riverton campus and selected outreach centers. Contact the instructor for more details.

ICN: (Interactive Classroom Network): Students meet in a classroom and the instructor has real-time interaction with students located off campus. Instructor may or may not be at the same location as the students.

Video Courses (DVD): Actual classroom lectures are recorded onto a DVD. Students can check out the DVDs at the CWC Library or the Lander Outreach Center. If these locations are inconvenient, call the Distance Education Technician at 1-800-735-8418, ext. 2124 or 1-307-855-2124.

TV (Telecourse): These courses are aired on Wyoming Public Television and CWC's Rustler TV two times per week. CWC's Rustler TV is only available over Bresnan cable service in Riverton and Lander on channel 5.  Air times are available with the course syllabus or the full schedule can be viewed here.

If you do not have cable TV or you live outside the broadcast area, recordings of the telecourses can be leased from RMI Media by contacting them at 1-800-745-5480 or at http://www.rmimedia.com. Telecourse recordings can also be viewed at the CWC campus Library.
