Sheridan, WY (Nov. 6) –Central Wyoming College volleyball coach Tiffany Stauffenberg was selected as Conference Coach of the Year and several of her athletes won accolades at the conclusion of the Region IX Volleyball Tournament in Sheridan.
Stauffenberg, whose team made it to the Region IX championship round Saturday only to fall to nationally ranked Western Wyoming Community College, credits her players for her selection as outstanding coach.
“First off, I’m very honored to be selected for this award, but I had a great team and they did what I asked them to do,” she said. “This award goes out to them, as well, for working hard and doing the things in the classroom, community as well as on the court.”
Leading the way for the Rustlers was sophomore Leticia Guimaraes of Brazil who was selected first team All Conference and was named to the All Region IX Tournament Team. Also named All Conference and All Tournament was sophomore Courtney Patterson of Rock Springs and freshman Ana Tenorio of Brazil was named All Conference.
Other All Region IX Tournament team players named from Central were sophomore Kelli Mann of Rawlins and Jaci Egley of Mountain View.
The individual awards that were given to the team members were much deserved, Stauffenberg said. “This was a special team and one that will never be forgotten.”
