Rustlers lose two tough conference matches

Riverton, WY -  The Central Wyoming College Women’s volleyball team lost a tough hard fought match to NJCAA 15th ranked Western Wyoming Community College in five games tonight, 17-25, 23-25, 30-28, 25-17, and 15-6 in front of another packed house at Rustler Gymnasium.

Leading the way for the Lady Rustlers was Para, Brazil freshman Flavia Araujo with 21 kills.  Pernambuco, Brazil sophomore Ana Tenorio had 12 kills also to help the Lady Rustler cause.  Evanston sophomore Abigail Ehlers came off the bench to provide a spark and lead the team in assists with 30.

Last week the Lady Rustlers lost on the road at Casper College in three straight games 22-25, 25-27 and 17-25.  Tenorio led the Lady Rustlers with 13 kills and Syracuse, UT freshman Danielle Parker led the team in assists with 22.

“We really competed tonight against Western. The ladies in games three and four played some of the best volleyball we had played all year. We did a good job of fighting back after digging ourselves into a hole. That was something we didn’t do at Casper. I’m proud of them tonight but still disappointed that we were unable to pull out the victory” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said.

The Lady Rustlers record drops to 15–6 overall and 4–2 in conference play.  They host Laramie County Community College Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. in Rustler Gymnasium.  The game can be heard live on KCWC 88.1 radio or on the internet at www.cwc.edu and click on KCWC Rustler Radio.  The game is also televised live on cable Channel 5 and video streamed over the internet at www.cwc.edu, watch volleyball games live.
