Solid road victories place Rustlers first in conference
Riverton, WY - The Central Wyoming College Women’s Volleyball Team stands on top of the Region IX North Conference Women’s Volleyball Standings after last weekend’s play. CWC defeated Eastern Wyoming College in three games and Laramie County Community College in four games. With the victories the Lady Rustlers record is now 11–3 overall and 3–0 in conference play.
The Lady Rustlers three game match victory over EWC, 25–21, 25–23 and 25–20 was led by Flavia Araujo of Para, Brazil. The freshman led the Lady Rustlers with 17 kills while another freshman, Danielle Parker of Syracuse, UT led the team with 25 assists.
The second game of the weekend saw the Lady Rustlers defeat Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne 23–25, 25–12, 25–22 and 25–18. Araujo led the team again with 13 kills, sophomore Ana Tenorio of Pernambuco, Brazil was second in kills with 10 and led the team with 11 blocks. Parker again led the team in assists with 15 while sophomore Abigail Ehlers of Evanston was a close second in assists with 14 and freshman Jess Foy of Gillette led the team with 16 digs.
“We had a very productive weekend on the road.Our ladies are getting a lot more confident with each other and what we are trying to do. Our passing is getting better each game and we are looking forward to a great upcoming weekend in Scottsbluff, Neb. at the Wyo-Braska Shoot-0ut,” said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
This weekend CWC travels to Scottsbluff to play in the Wyo-Braska Shoot-Out.
