CWC now 3 – 0 in conference play

Riverton, WY – The Lady Rustlers defeated Laramie County Community College in three games, in front of a hometown crowd of 338.  CWC disposed of the Lady Eagles in three games, 25–19, 25–18 and 25–23.  With the win the Lady Rustlers are now 12 – 5 on the year and 3 – 0 in conference.

Game one the Rustlers went on a 5 – 0 run and didn’t look back.  Game two LCCC and CWC traded points, with the Rustlers taking control at the end.  Game three, CWC took a commanding lead only to have the Lady Eagles make a valid comeback.  But in the end the Lady Rustlers gutted it out to hold on to the victory.

CWC was led by Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes with 12 kills.  Rawlins native Kelli Mann had 30 assists.  Rock Springs native Courtney Patterson was tied with Brazilian freshman Ana Tenorio with three blocks.

“This was a solid win for us to continue our quest for a conference championship.  We need to get back to practice Monday and continue to work on the fundamentals of the game.  We’ve got some big games ahead of us and we need to continue to improve.”

The 23rd Ranked Lady Rustlers now step out of conference play to take on NAIA four year power Rocky Mountain College in Billings.  They will then have six away conference games before they return home to  Rustler Gymnasium, October 11.
