CWC takes down EWC in five
Riverton, WY - The Rustlers defeated the Lady Lancers in five games to continue their undefeated conference record. The match went five games with scores of 25 – 21, 19 – 25, 25 – 16, 22 – 25, and 15 – 11. CWC record now goes to 11 – 5 on the year and 2 – 0 in conference.
Game one went back in forth but Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes came up big with powerful hits that but the game away for the Rustlers. The Lady Lancers took command early in game two and never relinquished the lead. Game three was dominated by the Rustlers with great team play. Game four the Lancers took a commanding lead, but the Rustlers came back to be down one 22 – 21 but the Lancers held on. The deciding game was very similar to game four but the roles were reversed and the Lady Rustlers went on to win the match.
“It was great to play at home tonight and the ladies really played off the home crowd. This was a team win. Our bench played well and we got contributions from every one. We need the same type of effort tomorrow as well as participation from the crowd.” Said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
The Rustlers now take on Laramie County Community College tomorrow at 3:00 pm. CWC looks to stay in first place in conference and build on tonight’s crowd of 478 for support. The game can be heard live on KCWC 88.1 and seen on television in Riverton & Lander on Optimum Cable TV Channel 5.
