CWC women’s volleyball defeats Sheridan College
Sheridan, WY – Last night in Sheridan, the CWC women’s volleyball won their fourth game this season on Sheridan College’s court and defeated the SC in four games.
The Lady Rustlers won game one by the score of 25 – 17. The Lady Generals came back to win game two 20 – 25. Games three and four were close but the Lady Rustlers pulled out the wins with scores of 25 – 23 and 25 – 21.
With the win the Lady Rustlers move into first place in the NJCAA Region IX Northern Conference with a record of 1 – 0. They also evened up their overall record to 4 – 4.
“We are very happy with the win today. Especially after the long day of travel to Sheridan. The ladies played with a lot of heart and passion today,” Said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg. Leading the way last night for the Lady Rustlers was Billings native Andrea Molen with 17 digs. Courtney Patterson of "Rock Springs had a team high 10 blocks. Leticia Guimaraes from Recife, Brazil had a team high 17 kills and Rawlins native Kelli Mann led the Lady Rustlers with 25 assists.
The Lady Rustlers now take their skills on the longest road trip of the year to Scottsdale, AZ to play in the prestigious Scottsdale Community College Invite. CWC will play two games Thursday, Sept. 8 vs. Phoenix College and Eastern Arizona College. Friday, Sept. 9 they will take on tournament host Scottsdale Community College, Arizona Western College, Pima Community College. Then Saturday, Sept. 10 they play South Mountain Community College before finishing up with their seeded Championship Tournament TBA match up.
