Central ranks tenth in nation in academics
The 2011 CWC volleyball team is ranked tenth in the nation for its overall academic performance by the National Junior College Athletic Association and Region iX.
The Rustler volleyball program was led by Riverton athlete Keesa Rottweiler who was presented with the NJCAA’s Superior Academic Achievement award with a 3.83 GPA. Her teammates, Jaci Egley of Mountain View with a 3.79 GPA, Nichole Meline of Pocatello, ID and Rawlins athlete Kelli Mann, who both had 3.6 GPAs, were presented the NJCAA’s Exemplary Academic Achievement award. Region IX academic awards to Central’s volleyball team went to Rottweiler, Egley, Mann, Meline, Abigail Ehlers, Leticia Guimaraes, Kali Howe, Andrea Molen, Ana Tenorio and Kaitlyn Tracy. Preston Eaton on the Rustler men’s team also received the academic award from Region IX.
Guimaraes is juco All American
(Colorado Springs, Colo. – Dec. 1) Central Wyoming College Volleyball athlete Leticia Guimaraes was named to the 2011 National Junior College Athletic Association’s All-American second team.
The 5-foot-9 sophomore from Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil was named to the Division I second team by a volleyball committee last week. Following the Region IX tournament, Leticia was selected first team All-Conference and was also selected to the All-Region IX team as well.
Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg was selected as the Conference Coach of the Year.
Awards to players and coach
Sheridan, WY – The Central Wyoming College Women’s Volleyball Team was awarded several awards by conference and region Officials. Leading the way was Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil sophomore Leticia Guimaraes as she was selected first team All-Conference. Rock Springs sophomore Courtney Patterson and Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil freshman Ana Tenorio were selected All-Conference.
Guimaraes and Patterson were both selected to the All-Region IX team as well.
Guimaraes, Rawlins sophomore Kelli Mann and Mountain View sophomore Jaci Egley were selected All Region IX Tournament Team.
Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg was selected as the Conference Coach of The Year.
“First off, I’m very honored to be selected for this award, but I had a great team and they did what I asked them to do. This award goes out to them as well for working hard and doing things in the classroom and community as well as on the court. The individual awards given to the team members were also very deserved. This was a special team and one that will never be forgotten,” Stauffenberg concluded.
