Rustlers Face Dakota Wesleyan at Sheridan Tournament
Riverton, WY. – The Central Wyoming Women’s Volleyball team travels to Sheridan College on Friday and Saturday to compete in the SC Women’s Volleyball Tournament. The Rustlers face Dakota Wesleyan to open the season.
Friday’s first serve begins at 1 p.m. as the Rustlers look to build on last year’s 19 – 16 record and third place finish at the NJCAA Region IX Tournament. All-Conference out-side hitter Leticia Guimaraes (Recife, Brazil) and All-Conference right-side hitter Courtney Patterson (Rock Springs, WY) look to lead their teammates to victory.
“The ladies have been working hard to get ready for the season in pre-season practice. They’re picking things up and getting adjusted to each other as a new team. It’s time to start playing someone else other than ourselves in the gym,” said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
The Rustlers will also play Friday night at 5 p.m. vs. Bismarck State. The tournament will continue Saturday with the one more game at 12 p.m. vs. Colorado Northwestern CC.
Rustlers Open Season with Win over Dakota Wesleyan
Sheridan, WY - Sophomores Courtney Patterson and Jaci Egley lead Rustlers to victory over Dakota Wesleyan in the opening game of the Sheridan College Tournament.
Egley, a Wyoming native from Mountain View, led the team in kills with eight, while another Wyoming native from Rock Springs, Courtney Patterson, had seven kills to go with four blocks.
"Courtney did an exceptional job this first game. We made the adjustment to move her to Middle Blocker during the game and she came up big. It was a pretty well balanced game and everyone played, so I was able to get a good read on what we have. It was a great first game" Said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
The Rustlers will play the 2nd game today at 5:00 pm vs. Bismarck State. They look to improve on their 1-0 record for the year.
Rustlers Now 2-0 in Sheridan College Tournament
Sheridan, WY- After defeating Dakota Wesleyan earlier today in three games 25-16, 25-12, and 25-15. The Central Wyoming College Women's Volleyball team defeated Bismarck State in three games also.
The Lady Rustlers defeated the Lady Mystics in the first game 25-18, which turned out to be the closest game of the match. CWC went on to win the next two games by the same score of 25-11.
“Being 2-0 going into tomorrow, give’s our team great confidence. You can see them really starting to come together today” Said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
The Lady Rustlers will take on the Lady Spartans of Colorado Northwestern Community College tomorrow at noon to close out the Sheridan College Tournament.
Rustlers Undefeated in Sheridan College Tournament
Sheridan, WY - Central Wyoming College Women's Volleyball team defeated NJCAA Region 18 opponent Colorado Northwestern Community College in a three game sweep in their final match of the Sheridan College Tournament.
">The Lady Rustlers won games one and two by the scores of 25-11. They sent the Lady Spartans home after game three with a win of 25-16.
"Today was another good victory for our team. We were able to sustain our concentration and play together. The team played hard today and this is another good win to build on” Said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
With the victory the Lady Rustlers are now 3–0 this season and have won all their matches in straight sets. Next up for the Lady Rustlers is traveling to play in the Salt Lake Community College “College Invite Tournament.” The seventh ranked SLCC Lady Bruins host the tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 2-3.
