Rustlers post another conference win
Riverton, WY (October 11) – The Central Wyoming College Women’s volleyball team improved its conference record to 8–2 Tuesday with a win over Northwest College. The match went four games, with the Rustlers winning games one and two by scores of 25–11, 25–22. The Lady Trappers won game three by a score of 22–25. In game four, the Rustlers dominated 25–15, in front of a home crowd of over 400.
CWC was led again by Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes with 19 kills, 13 digs and eight aces. Rawlins sophomore Kelli Mann led in assists tonight with 32. Jaci Egley the sophomore from Mountain View, had tremendous defensive play with 12 digs.
“We started off really well tonight. The home crowd helped get us going. Game three we had a few mental breakdowns but we were able to just take over and get back to playing the way we know how in game four,” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg commented.
The Lady Rustlers are now in second place in the conference and have an overall record of 19–8 on the year. CWC will take on Sheridan College at home Thursday night, Oct. 13. Game time is 7 p.m.
Thursday night will be a special night for the Lady Rustlers. Dig Pink Night is the theme for Breast Cancer Awareness Night. All attendees are encouraged to wear pink. T-Shirts will be available for purchase at the match, with all proceeds to benefit a local cancer patient. The match is in honor of all survivors of cancer, those that have lost a loved one to cancer and those fighting the battle today.
