Guimaraes is juco All American
(Colorado Springs, Colo. – Dec. 1) Central Wyoming College Volleyball athlete Leticia Guimaraes was named to the 2011 National Junior College Athletic Association’s All-American second team. The 5-foot-9 sophomore from Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil was named to the Division I second team by a volleyball committee last week. Following the Region IX tournament, Leticia was selected first team All-Conference and was also selected to the All-Region IX team as well. Sheridan, WY – The Central Wyoming College Women’s Volleyball Team was awarded several awards by conference and region Officials. Leading the way was Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil sophomore Leticia Guimaraes as she was selected first team All-Conference. Rock Springs sophomore Courtney Patterson and Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil freshman Ana Tenorio were selected All-Conference.
Guimaraes and Patterson were both selected to the All-Region IX team as well.
Guimaraes, Rawlins sophomore Kelli Mann and Mountain View sophomore Jaci Egley were selected All Region IX Tournament Team.
Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg was selected as the Conference Coach of The Year.
“First off, I’m very honored to be selected for this award, but I had a great team and they did what I asked them to do. This award goes out to them as well for working hard and doing things in the classroom and community as well as on the court. The individual awards given to the team members were also very deserved. This was a special team and one that will never be forgotten,” Stauffenberg concluded.
Rustlers in Region IX championship game
Earlier in the day, the Rustlers defeated the Lady Thunderbirds of Casper College in five games (25-11, 25-20. 20-25, 19-25, 15-7) to advance to the finals.
In a recap, Coach Stauffenberg said the Rustlers started "off great and then the momentum swung to Casper. You have to give them credit for fighting back and tying the match, but our ladies wanted to win and dug deep and found a way to put out a victory."
Rustlers defeat Northwest CollegeSheridan, WY – (Nov. 4) Facing elimination at the Region IX Volleyball Tournament, the Rustlers defeated the Trappers of Northwest College in three games to advance to tonight’s quarterfinal match up.
Scores from today’s three game match were 25 – 22, 25 – 15 and 25 -22. CWC was once again lead by Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes with 13 kills and 11 digs. Rawlins, Wyo., sophomore Kelli Mann led the team again in assists with 29. Defensively Brazilian freshman Ana Tenorio and Syracuse, Utah freshman Kaitlyn Tracy had three blocks each, while Mountain View, Wyo., sophomore Jaci Egley had 11 digs.
With the win the Rustlers will have to see who wins the game between Laramie County Community College and Eastern Wyoming College. Rustlers drop one to Casper
Sheridan, WY (November 3) – The Central Wyoming College women’s volleyball team lost to Casper College in four games in the second round of the Region IX Tournament, 25-13, 17-25, 16- 25, and 23-25.
Brazilian freshman Ana Tenorio led the team with 10 kills and six blocks. Rawlins sophomore Kelli Mann once again led the team with 27 assists. Rock Springs sophomore Courtney Patterson had a good defensive game with six blocks and Mountain View sophomore Jaci Egley had 13 digs.
“We started the match playing very well and then lost a little composure. We battled back in the match and just could not get over the top in game four to make the match go to five. We have now given ourselves an uphill battle to win the tournament. But we can do it," Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said.
CWC will play Friday at 2 p.m. If they win, the Rustlers will play again at 8 p.m. to continue in the tournament. All Region IX games can be seen live over the internet at www.scgenerals.com
Rustlers chalk up victory in Region IX first round
Sheridan, WY (November 2) -The Central Wyoming College women’s volleyball Team defeated the Lady Generals of Sheridan College in four games to advance to the second round of the Region IX Tournament. The Lady Generals won the first game of the match 21-25. The Lady Rustlers fought back to win the next three games, 25-15, 27-25 and 25-13 to advance to the next round.
CWC was once again led by All-American candidate Leticia Guimaraes with 16 Kills. Leading the team in blocks was Ana Tenorio with seven, and Rawlins native Kelli Mann once again led the team in assists with 41. Mountain View sophomore Jaci Egley had another good defensive game leading the team with 20 digs.
“We started out sluggish tonight against the tournament host. Their crowd was into it, but we were able to overcome them and their crowd and play very good volleyball tonight. These are the type of games that will help us along the way in this tournament,” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said.
The Lady Rustlers will now take on Casper College tonight at 8 p.m. The two teams split the season series, with both teams winning on their home courts in three games. Rustlers fall in five at Northwest College
Powell, WY – The Central Wyoming College Women’s volleyball team lost a five game match to Northwest College, 25-19, 25-19, 17-25, 15-25 and 13-15. With the loss the Lady Rustlers end the regular season with a record of 21 – 10 and sole possession of second place in the conference with a record of 10-4.
Mountain View sophomore Jaci Egley played her last regular season game leading the team with 24 digs. Also playing her last regular season game was Rawlins sophomore Kelli Mann, leading the team once again in assists with 32. Syracuse, UT freshman Kaitlyn Tracy, Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes and Brazilian freshman Ana Tenorio lead the Lady Rustlers with 11 kills each.
“We started out really well and just were not able to finish the game off. Statistically we were pretty good, but stats don’t win games. Now it is time to get ready for the conference tournament,” said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
CWC will prepare to take on Region IX Tournament Host Sheridan College next week. The Lady Rustlers defeated the Lady Generals on October 13. The match went four games. All Region IX tournament games can be seen online through a link provided by the Sheridan College website.
Rustlers fall to ranked Lady Mustangs
Riverton, WY (October 19) – The Central Wyoming College women’s Volleyball team fell tonight in three games to Western Wyoming Community College, 16-25, 21-25, and 14-25. With the loss the Lady Rustlers record now stands at 21–9 on the year and 10–3 in conference play. They retain sole possession of second place in the conference.
Freshman Ana Tenorio of Recife, Brazil led the Rustlers with seven kills. In their final home game, Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes had seven kills to go with ten digs, and Rawlins sophomore Kelli Mann led the team with 15 assists.
“Tonight was a tough loss for us. We had seven Ladies play their last home game tonight and unfortunately we made too many mistakes to come out on top. You have to give Western Wyoming credit. They are a very good team. There is a reason they are ranked third in the country. We now need to move on and get ready Northwest College and then the Region IX Tournament,” said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
CWC travels to Powell on Tuesday, Oct. 25 to take on the Lady Trappers. The first serve takes place at 7 p.m. The Lady Rustlers look to clinch the second seed in the Region IX Tournament with a victory.
CWC defeats Casper College; now in second place
Riverton, WY (October 18)– The Lady Rustlers defeated the Lady Thunderbirds of Casper College in three games Tuesday to take sole possession of 2nd place in conference play. The match scores were 25 – 17, 25 -23, and 25 – 21. With the victory the Lady Rustlers are now 21 – 8 on the year and 10–2 in conference play.
CWC was lead by Syracuse, UT freshman Kaitlyn Tracy with 14 Kills. Rawlins sophomore Kelli Mann led the team with 35 assists, while Mountain View sophomore Jaci Egley had a great defensive game on the back line with 11 digs. CWC’s All-American candidate, Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes had nine kills and 15 digs.
“Tonight was a great team victory for us. The ladies came out and executed the game plan. We were able to get out in front quick in the first game. In the second game, we had to battle back, but once we took the lead, we knew we were not going to give it back. Game three was just a tough battle that we earned the victory. I could not be more proud of our team, but we get to enjoy for one night before we take on the number three team in the country Wednesday night,” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said.
The Lady Rustlers now look forward to Wednesday night as they take on the NJCAA number three ranked Lady Mustangs of Western Wyoming Community College. WWCC is also the top team in the conference with an 11–0 conference record and 28–2 on the year. The match is set for the first serve to take place at 7 p.m. CWC also looks to build on its attendance from Tuesday which was 427. So come early and get your seat as the Lady Rustlers look to build on tonight’s victory.
Rustlers stay perfect at home
Riverton, WY (October 13) – The Central Wyoming College women’s volleyball team added another home win to its record Thursday. They defeated the Lady Generals of Sheridan College in four games: 25–15, 25–17, 30–28, and 25-18.
The Lady Rustlers got tremendous play out of their two Brazilian players. Leticia Guimaraes sent home some thunderous spikes for kills, while Ana Tenorio used her 6’5" frame to dominate the net. Kelli Mann (Rawlins) led the team again with assists, while Courtney Patterson (Rock Springs) had tremendous play around the net.
“Leticia really brought us back tonight in game four. We kind of had a letdown tonight after losing that hard fought game three, but the ladies pulled through and this should give us some momentum to build on for next week,” said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
With the win, CWC now moves to 20 8 on the year and 9–2 in conference. This now sets up a showdown with Casper College Tuesday night, Oct. 18. Winner will have sole possession of second place in the conference. Game time is 7 p.m. Officials expect a packed house, and encourage spectators to arrive early to get a good seat.
Rustlers post another conference win
Riverton, WY (October 11) – The Central Wyoming College Women’s volleyball team improved its conference record to 8–2 Tuesday with a win over Northwest College. The match went four games, with the Rustlers winning games one and two by scores of 25–11, 25–22. The Lady Trappers won game three by a score of 22–25. In game four, the Rustlers dominated 25–15, in front of a home crowd of over 400.
CWC was led again by Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes with 19 kills, 13 digs and eight aces. Rawlins sophomore Kelli Mann led in assists tonight with 32. Jaci Egley the sophomore from Mountain View, had tremendous defensive play with 12 digs.
“We started off really well tonight. The home crowd helped get us going. Game three we had a few mental breakdowns but we were able to just take over and get back to playing the way we know how in game four,” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg commented.
The Lady Rustlers are now in second place in the conference and have an overall record of 19–8 on the year. CWC will take on Sheridan College at home Thursday night, Oct. 13. Game time is 7 p.m.
Thursday night will be a special night for the Lady Rustlers. Dig Pink Night is the theme for Breast Cancer Awareness Night. All attendees are encouraged to wear pink. T-Shirts will be available for purchase at the match, with all proceeds to benefit a local cancer patient. The match is in honor of all survivors of cancer, those that have lost a loved one to cancer and those fighting the battle today.
Lady Rustlers continue road wins at EWC
“What a great road trip this was. We were able to get two quality conference wins. Both matches were hard fought. The ladies did a great job in practice this week and they implemented the game plans to perfection,” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said.
CWC returns to Riverton for a home game, Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. vs. Northwest College. The CWC Alumni will be handing out bandanas before the game and alumni information. Between games two and three there will be prizes given out also. Tickets for the contest are $3 for adults and $2 for students. The Lady Rustlers travel to Torrington to take on Eastern Wyoming College, Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. CWC looks to improve on their 17 – 8 record and 6 – 2 in conference play. The Lady Lancers look to avenge their five game match loss to the Lady Rustlers that took place earlier this season in Riverton.
Lady Rustlers fall to #4 ranked Lady Mustangs
Rock Springs, WY – The Central Wyoming College Women’s Volleyball team lost in three games to Western Wyoming Community College, 17-26, 19-25, and 19-25. The Lady Rustlers now have a record of 16- 8 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
NJCAA names Leticia Guimaraes player of week
Colorado Springs, CO - (September 28, 2011) Lady Rustler sophomore Leticia Guimaraes of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil has been named the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Player of the Week for games September 19 – 25, 2011. The NJCAA made the announcement today through its national office.
Guimaraes posted two double doubles with 21 kills and 13 digs against University of Great Falls and 20 kills and 12 digs vs. Rocky Mountain College. Guimaraes accuracy was a .512 hitting percentage for the week. On the Defensive side of the net, Leticia totaled nine blocks and 38 digs in four matches.
“Leticia is one of the best players in the conference and region. It’s very satisfying to see her and our program get this recognition,” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said.
Leticia and her teammates look forward to taking on nationally ranked # 4 Western Wyoming Community College Friday, Sept. 30 in Rock Springs at 7 p.m.
Rustler post first conference loss to Casper
Casper, WY - (September 27) The Central Wyoming Women’s Volleyball lost to the Lady T-Birds of Casper College in three games Tuesday night: 11–25, 22–25, and 20–25. This was CWC's first conference loss of the season, bringing their overall record to 16–7 and 5–1 in conference play. Brazilian sophomore, Leticia Guimaraes again led the way for the Lady Rustlers with 13 kills, seven blocks. Rawlins sophomore Kelli Mann led the Lady Rustlers in assists with 21.
“Tonight we just dug too big of a hole in game one. We were flat and just weren’t able to get going. Game two we had our chances and let game three get away. We now need to get back to practice and get doing the things that have made us successful all season long,” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said.
CWC travels to Western Wyoming Community College Friday, Sept. 30 to take on the Lady Mustangs. The match begins 7 p.m.
Rustlers avenge earlier loss at Rocky Mountain College
Glendive, MT – (September 24) The CWC Rustlers defeated four year college and NAIA power Rocky Mountain College with a sweep of three games, 25 -22, 25-17 and 25-17. With the win the Rustlers avenge an earlier loss this week on Rocky Mountain College’s home floor and improve CWC’s record to 16 – 6.
The Brazilian connection of Leticia Guimaraes and Ana Tenorio were in full effect in this match. Leticia had 20 kills and four blocks, while Ana had 11 kills and four blocks. Kelli Mann of Rawlins had 37 assists and Keesa Rottweiler of Riverton, WY/Sierra Vista, AZ had 14 digs.
“It was good to see the ladies come out with some aggression and get back at Rocky Mountain College for the loss earlier this week. We had a very determined team on the floor. This was a good weekend for us. We were able to get two quality on the road conference wins and two non-conference wins. This should help us next week on the road at Casper College,” said. Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
The Lady Rustlers now face conference foe and rival Casper College, Tuesday night, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
Volleyball team retains 1st place in conference
Glendive, MT –(September 24) Rustlers of CWC defeated Dawson Community College and stays undefeated in conference play, plus remains in first place. The match took only three games, with scores of 25 – 10, 25 – 12, 25 – 13. With the win the CWC improves to 15 – 6 on the year 5 – 0 in conference.
Kelly Mann had 30 assists to lead the way. In kills Leticia Guimaraes led CWC with 16. Freshman Keesa Rottweiler of Riverton, WY/ Sierra Vista, AZ had 14 digs and Brazilian freshman Ana Tenorio had two blocks.
“This morning we came out and just dominated. The ladies did a great job with the game plan and we took over right from the start to win in a commanding way,” said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
Rustlers defeat NAIA power University of Great Falls
Glendive, MT –(September 23) The Central Wyoming College Women’s Volleyball team defeated the University of Great Falls in four games with scores of 25 – 15, 23 – 25, 25 – 12, and 25 – 15. With the victory the Lady Rustlers now have a record of 14 – 6.
Leading the Rustlers was Leticia Guimaraes with 21 kills and Rock Springs sophomore Courtney Patterson had 17 kills. Sophomore Kelli Mann had 42 assists.
“We started out well in game one. The team did a great job passing, but in game two we had some miscues. It was nice though to regroup in game three and just dominate in game four,” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said. The Lady Rustlers will now take on Dawson Community College again in the morning. This game will be another conference counting match. CWC looks to continue to be in 1st place in the conference after the match.
Rustlers defeat Buccaneers in 3
Glendive, MT –(September 22) The Lady Rustlers defeat the Lady Buccaneers of Dawson Community College in three games. The Lady Rustlers stay undefeated in Conference play defeating the Lady Buccaneers by the scores of 25 – 19, 25 – 17, 25 -15.
Leading the Rustlers with 18 kills was Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes. Kelli Mann had 27 assists and Hawaiian sophomore Jahndy Muliagatele-Marinas had 4 blocks. With the win the Lady Rustlers are now 13 – 6 on the year and 4 – 0 in Conference. They keep their hold on first place.
The Lady Rustlers now play Dawson Community College tomorrow morning again in conference play.
Road game not kind to Rustlers
Billings, MT – The Central Wyoming College Women’s Volleyball team went on the road tonight and lost to NAIA power Rocky Mountain College. The match went only three games with the Lady Rustlers losing 21–25, 21–25, and 19–25. With the loss CWC’s record is now 12–6 on the year but still 3–0 and first place in conference play.

CWC takes down EWC in five
Riverton, WY - The Rustlers defeated the Lady Lancers in five games to continue their undefeated conference record. The match went five games with scores of 25 – 21, 19 – 25, 25 – 16, 22 – 25, and 15 – 11. CWC record now goes to 11 – 5 on the year and 2 – 0 in conference.
Game one went back in forth but Brazilian sophomore Leticia Guimaraes came up big with powerful hits that but the game away for the Rustlers. The Lady Lancers took command early in game two and never relinquished the lead. Game three was dominated by the Rustlers with great team play. Game four the Lancers took a commanding lead, but the Rustlers came back to be down one 22 – 21 but the Lancers held on. The deciding game was very similar to game four but the roles were reversed and the Lady Rustlers went on to win the match.
“It was great to play at home tonight and the ladies really played off the home crowd. This was a team win. Our bench played well and we got contributions from every one. We need the same type of effort tomorrow as well as participation from the crowd.” Said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
The Rustlers now take on Laramie County Community College tomorrow at 3:00 pm. CWC looks to stay in first place in conference and build on tonight’s crowd of 478 for support. The game can be heard live on KCWC 88.1 and seen on television in Riverton & Lander on Optimum Cable TV Channel 5.
Lady Rustlers finish tournament with best record
Scottsdale, AZ – The Central Wyoming College Women’s Volleyball team finished the Scottsdale Community College Invitational Tournament with a 6 – 1 record. With that, the Lady Rustlers leave the state of Arizona with the best record of any school at the tournament.
Last night CWC disposed of Pima Community College in three games, 25-10, 23–25, and 15-12. Leading the way again was sophomore Leticia Guimaraes with ten kills, 18 digs and sophomore Kelli Mann with 27 assists.
This morning the Lady Rustlers were matched up again with the Lady Cougars of South Mountain Community College. This time the Lady Rustlers defeated them in just two games. Dominating them by scores of 25–14 and 25-15. Guimaraes again led the team in kills with seven and Kelli led the team again with assists with 22. In the last match of the tournament the Lady Rustlers too on Pima Community College. Again the Lady Rustlers beat them but this time in just two games. CWC won by scores of 25–18 and 25-14. Pocatello, ID sophomore Nicole Meline came up big with 16 assists in this contest.
“We played great team defense today. We are excited to have the best record of anyone here at the tournament. The Ladies really played hard and together here in Arizona. We are looking forward to coming home and finally playing in front of our home crowed.” Said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
Next up for 10–5, 1 – 0 Lady Rustlers is Friday, Sept. 16 home opener vs. Eastern Wyoming College. The serve will take place at 7 p.m.
Rustlers defeat host & 18th ranked team
Scottsdale, AZ – Central Wyoming College Women’s Volleyball team defeated tournament host Scottsdale Community College and 18th Ranked Arizona Western College earlier today at the Scottsdale Community College Invitational Tournament.
Match one the Lady Rustlers defeated the Lady Artichokes in three games. Scottsdale won the 1st game by a score of 25 – 27. CWC rebounded to win games two and three by scores of 25 – 17 and 19 – 17. CWC was led once again in kills by outside hitter Leticia Guimaraes with 15. Kelli Mann had an outstanding game once again; as she recorded a season high 32 assists.
Match two the Lady rustlers defeated the 18th Ranked Lady Matadors in three games. Game one was won by CWC by a score of 25 -17. Game two was very close but AWC pulled out the win 22 – 25. The third and final game CWC took command and won 15 – 9. Leticia Guimaraes and Kelli Mann were big again as Leticia recorded 11 kills and Kelli recorded 22 assists.
“What a great day for our ladies so far. We defeat the tournament hosts in a tough morning battle and then come back to defeat the 18th ranked team in the country. Our ladies played with so much heart and determination so far today. Hopefully we can continue later on tonight.” Said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg.
These two wins now improve the Lady Rustlers record to 7 – 5 overall and 1 – 0 in conference play for the season. Tonight the Lady Rustlers take on Pima Community College for their third game of the day. Tomorrow they take on South Mountain Community College before being placed in their championship tournament bracket spot.
Scottsdale Invitational Tournament - first day
Scottsdale, AZ – The Central Wyoming College Women’s Volleyball team ended its first day of the Scottsdale Community College Invitational Tournament with a 1 – 1 record. After defeating Phoenix College in match one, two games to none, CWC lost match two to Eastern Arizona College in three games.
In match one the Lady Rustlers won 25 – 12 and 25 – 15. Lead by Brazilian Leticia Guimaraes' dominating play of nine kills and seven digs and Rawlins native Kelli Mann’s 22 assists, the Lady Bears did not have much of a chance.
“We jumped on them right from the start and the ladies did a great job of not letting them back into the match.” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said.
Match two was a tight battle that went to a full three games for this tournament play. The Lady Gila Monsters won game one 21 – 25. The Lady Rustlers battled back to win game two 25 – 21, but came up short in game three, 11 – 15.
“Our defense was very good in this match; we just have to eliminate some of our errors,” Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg said.
The Lady Rustlers were led by Jahndy Marinas, of Hawaii, with nine digs in the match and Guimaraes with eight kills. CWC's overall record is 5 -5, with a conference record of 1 – 0. Friday's games do not get any easier as they take on tournament host Scottsdale Community College, Arizona Western College and Pima Community College.
CWC women’s volleyball defeats Sheridan College
Sheridan, WY – Last night in Sheridan, the CWC women’s volleyball won their fourth game this season on Sheridan College’s court and defeated the SC in four games.
The Lady Rustlers won game one by the score of 25 – 17. The Lady Generals came back to win game two 20 – 25. Games three and four were close but the Lady Rustlers pulled out the wins with scores of 25 – 23 and 25 – 21.
With the win the Lady Rustlers move into first place in the NJCAA Region IX Northern Conference with a record of 1 – 0. They also evened up their overall record to 4 – 4.
“We are very happy with the win today. Especially after the long day of travel to Sheridan. The ladies played with a lot of heart and passion today,” Said Coach Tiffany Stauffenberg. Leading the way last night for the Lady Rustlers was Billings native Andrea Molen with 17 digs. Courtney Patterson of "Rock Springs had a team high 10 blocks. Leticia Guimaraes from Recife, Brazil had a team high 17 kills and Rawlins native Kelli Mann led the Lady Rustlers with 25 assists.
The Lady Rustlers now take their skills on the longest road trip of the year to Scottsdale, AZ to play in the prestigious Scottsdale Community College Invite. CWC will play two games Thursday, Sept. 8 vs. Phoenix College and Eastern Arizona College. Friday, Sept. 9 they will take on tournament host Scottsdale Community College, Arizona Western College, Pima Community College. Then Saturday, Sept. 10 they play South Mountain Community College before finishing up with their seeded Championship Tournament TBA match up.
