Lady Rustlers edged out in first conference game

 

Riverton, WY (December 7) - The Central Wyoming College women’s basketball team was defeated by Northwest College, 49-41. With the defeat the Lady Rustlers drop to 6–1 and 0–1 in conference play. The Lady Trappers used their rebound edge of 17 to help with the victory.

 

The Rustlers were led by Rock Springs, WY sophomore Courtney Patterson with 12 points. Sydney, Australia sophomore Jacki Nicholson had 10 points. Spanish Fork, UT sophomore Brynlie Nielsen was held scoreless for the first time this year but lead the team with 13 rebounds.

 

“Not to sound cliché but tonight was just not our night.  If you had told me that Brynlie would be scoreless and we still had a chance to win.  I would have said you're crazy, "said Coach SErol STauffenberg.  "Unfortunately the ball just did not bounce our way.  The ladies played hard we just were not able to pull off the win tonight.  Give Northwest credit then made the plays at the end of the game to win and that’s what happened.”

 

The Lady Rustlers host Casper College who defeated Western Wyoming Wednesday ngiht and are in 1-0 in conference play.  Game time is 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 and can be heard live on FM 88.1 or seen live over the internet at www.cwc.edu.
