Lady Rustlers defeat Sheridan, advance to semi-finals


Casper, WY (March 11)  – The Central Wyoming College women’s basketball team defeated the Lady Generals of Sheridan College 58-51 to advance to the Region IX semi-finals.  The Lady Rustlers took an eight point lead at half 37-29 and held on to win by seven.

Rock Springs sophomore Courtney Patterson led the Lady Rustlers with her 14 points and six rebounds effort. Spanish Fork, UT sophomore Brynlie Nielsen had 12 points and six rebounds as well.  Rock Springs freshman Porsha Wadsworth had nine points off the bench and Mountain View freshman Emily Smith led the team in rebounding with 10.

“Our Ladies just went out and played right from the start. We were able to play our game, control the tempo and they just were not able to adjust in time.  We did a nice job of controlling the boards and now it’s time to get ready for the Semi-Finals!” Coach Serol Stauffenberg concluded.

The Lady Rustlers meet Otero Junior College at 5 p.m. Monday at Casper College.  The game can be heard live onFM 88.1 KCWC and can be seen live over the internet, thru the Region IX Tournament website.
