Double overtime nets big victory for Central
Riverton, WY (February 8) – The Central Wyoming College Lady Rustlers defeated the Lady Mustangs of Western Wyoming Community College 83- 80 in a double overtime victory. Tied at 61 at the end of regulation, both teams scored eight points in the first overtime. The Lady Rustlers gutted out to win by three in the second overtime. With the win the Lady Rustlers improve to 11 and 11 on the year and 4-7 in conference play.
The Lady Rustlers had five players foul out in the game but were led by Spanish Fork, UT sophomore Brynlie Nielsen with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Preston, ID freshman Elise Keller had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Sydney, Australia sophomore Jacki Nicholson had 12 points and Crow Agency, MT freshman Marissa Hogan helped the Rustler cause with 14 points in the win.
Coach Serol Stauffenberg was pleased with the victory. "I’m so happy for our girls; they came out and played hard tonight. This was a great confidence boost for them and hopefully we can build on this. We are going to be a tough team come tournament time,” he said.
