Lady Rustlers fall to Casper College

Casper, WY (February 4) – The Central Wyoming College women’s basketball team lost to nationally ranked Casper College 57-52 Saturday afternoon. It was a hard fought game.  The Lady Rustlers led at halftime by the score of 27 to 21. The Lady Thunderbirds did a very good job of pressuring the Lady Rustlers to take the lead right at the end.

Sydney, Australia sophomore Jacki Nicholson led all scorers with 14 and was 3 of 6 from behind the three point line.  Rock Springs sophomore Courtney Patterson had 12 points and Mountain View freshman Emily Smith had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Rustlers.

“I thought the ladies did a very good job at the first part of the game especially against this nationally ranked team.We just couldn’t finish off the game tonight.  Casper got into us late in the game and some of the same things we did at the start of the game just didn’t happen at the end. Casper is a very good team and the deserved to win, but our Ladies put up a great effort,”  Coach Serol Stauffenberg concluded.

With the loss the Lady Rustlers record stands at 10–11 on the year and 3–7 in conference play. They take on the Lady Mustangs of Western Wyoming Community College at home, Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 5:30 p.m.  The game can be seen live locally on Channel 5 and over the web at www.cwc.edu.  Click on “watch basketball online”.  The game can also be heard on FM 88.1.
