Rustlers defeat Buccaneers, post first conference win
Glendive, MT (January 21) – The CWC women's basketball team defeated Dawson Community College on the road, 64-59. In was a hard fought game with the Lady Rustlers emerging victorious. The win moves the Lady Rustlers to a record of 8-9 for the year and 1-6 in conference play.
Leading the Rustlers was Australian sophomore Jacki Nicholson with 25 points. She went to the free throw line 18 times and made 13 of those attempts. Spanish Fork, UT sophomore Brynlie Nielsen had 15 points going 6-12 from the field. Rock Springs sophomore Courtney Patterson recorded 10 points.
"I'm happy for our ladies tonight," Coach Serol Stauffenberg commented. "They found a way to get the win. Their hard work is paying off and it is nice to be rewarded. This is a long way to come, but the bus ride home will be a lot better for the ladies because of the win."
The Lady Rustlers take on the EWC Lady Lancers in a non-conference game Thursday, Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on FM88.1, and seen live on cable channel 5. Fans may also view it over the internet at cwc.edu, then click on "watch basketball games."
