Rustlers defeated in overtime by ranked team
Rock Springs, WY (January 7) – CWC men’s basketball team lost by three points to the 11th ranked team in country. Western Wyoming defeated the Rustlers 80-77. With the loss the Rustlers drop to 11-3 on the year and 1-2 in conference play.
Leading the way for the Rustlers -was Armani Flanigan. The freshman from Rockford, IL had 19 points on 8 for 10 shooting. Las Vegas, NV freshman Davion Pearson had a double/double tonight with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Pearson was 4 for 6 from behind the arc. Sophomore James “Deuce” Johnson from North Hills, CA finished with 13 points on 5 of 6 shooting. Canadian freshman Benjamin Davis came off the bench for 11 points.
“We just turned the ball over to much tonight. We figured out our free throw problem but we gave them too many extra opportunities to score. We out rebounded them, 50 to 24 and still lost by 3 in overtime. We need to get back in the gym, get better and get ready for the next one,” summed up Coach Curtis Condie.
