Rustlers win non-conference game over LCCC
– The Central Wyoming College men’s basketball team defeated Laramie County Community College 67-53. The Rustlers held the Golden Eagles to 21 points in the second half to help them win their 10th non- conference game of the season. With the win the Rustlers improve their record to 11–2 on the year.
North Hills, CA sophomore and Louisiana Tech transfer James “Deuce” Johnson had a double/double with 19 points on 8 for 10 shooting and 10 rebounds. Payson, Utah freshman Braden Wright had 13 points off the bench as the only other Rustler in double figures. Rockford, IL freshman Armani Flannigan had 8 points on 4 for 4 shooting, and Las Vegas, NV freshman Davion Pearson had 9 points and 6 assists.
“I thought we came out a bit flat tonight. The guys responded to the halftime adjustments. Deuce was Deuce and controlled the paint. The team fought through some adversity but we were able to gut out the win. Braden came off the bench and sparked us, but this was a team victory make no mistake,” Coach Curtis Condie said.
The Rustlers have a break in action for the holidays and semester. They will be back in action January 3 as they take on the Utah All-Stars before they resume Region IX North Conference play. CWC’s next conference game is January 7 at Western Wyoming Community College, Rock Springs
