R Recreation honored as Volunteers of Year

Central Wyoming College’s R Recreation staff was honored as “Volunteers of the Year” by the Fremont District 25 Recreation Board.

The recreation board cited Workforce and Community Education Assistant Dean Lynne McAuliffe for her leadership role in R Recreation along with staff members Mary Axthelm, BriAnna Winter and Sherry Shelley. McAuliffe’s department accepted the oversight of the Riverton community recreation programs three years ago.

Lars Flanagan, president of the Recreation Board, said R Recreation has become the “home base” for all things recreation in the community. Whether it is organizing and leading classes to helping with registration, Flanagan said, “R Recreation has taken the lead.”

The recreation board also honored the Fremont County Racing Association.
