Climbing competition Saturday on 'The Wall'

Climbing competition Saturday on 'The Wall'

The annual CWC Bouldering competition takes place this Saturday and competitors as well as audience are welcome.

If you haven’t been able to come and watch in the past, you are missing out on a good time. We open the divider wall between the climbing wall and the theatre so that spectators have theatre seating for the event.

This is the perfect event for beginner climbers as well as seasoned vets. Experience is not required. This event makes a great introduction to climbing competitions.

Women will climb from 5 to 6 p.m.and guys will climb from 6 to 7 p.m.. Cost is only $15 to enter and free to watch.

All competitors are automatically entered in to our prize raffle. That means no matter how well you compete, you have an equal chance to win something from our generous sponsors—Black Diamond, Trango, Red Chilli, Red Canyon Gear, Atomic Climbing, NOLS, and Wild Iris. Additionally, the overall top male and female climbers will receive a modest $40 cash prize. All proceeds from this event go to the student-led CWC Outdoor Adventure Club, which coordinates outdoor trips for CWC students each semester.

Competitors can pay and register at the door with cash or check. CWC’s climbing gym is located in the Student Center on the main campus in Riverton. Competitors under 18 will need an assumption of risk waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Younger competitors, please email me for a copy in advance. The awards should be all wrapped up by 8pm this year.
