Dr. Jewel Dirks
Jewel has been on staff at CWC since 1990, first as the director of the Student Support Services Program, and for the past several years as an Associate Professor of Psychology.
Jewel has combined her careers as a musician with psychology and counseling; working as a music therapy and composition professor at Radford University. Prior to joining the CWC staff, Jewel worked as a therapist at community mental health centers in Nebraska and then in Evanston, Wyo.
Her 11 years as director of CWC's Student Support Services Program gave Jewel a "sense of total respect and awe for the students we have here."
She has a Doctor of Musical Arts, and masters in both musical arts and counseling with emphasis on family and marriage.
A freelance composer, Jewel enjoys goat packing in the mountains. She is riding her mountain bike on a virtual trip around the moon.
A specialist in electronic music, Jewel has a long list of performances, publications and commercial music on her resume. She was also named "Teacher of the Year" in 2004-05 and 2005-06.
