Outdoor Education

Central Wyoming College offers an assortment of opportunities for students who want to combine their thirst for outdoor adventure with a general studies curriculum. Click on the right hand banner ads to choose which program works best for you. The programs offer students an opportunity for learning, training and assessment in the field of outdoor education, leadership and recreation. There are also options for study with programs developed in partnership with the National Outdoor Leadership School. Here is a link to a "suggested" outdoor education semester schedule.
Students have the opportunity through a wide variety of outdoor activities to develop their skills in a specific area of interest such as:
- Demonstrate multiple leadership and communication styles and utilize these styles in various roles and responsibilities.
- Assess human developmental stages with an understanding of how internal and external factors affect the dynamics of relationships.
- Demonstrate intermediate to advanced skill sets in an area of choice related to their specific field of interest.
- Assess the safety considerations necessary to live and travel in an outdoor setting, and how to mitigate hazards and risks in a variety of outdoor activities.
